Thaweekan waterlily flower plant ( tropical, 365 days bloomer)

The Thaweekan waterlily is a beautiful hybrid variety of tropical water lily, scientifically part of the genus Nymphaea. It’s popular for its striking blooms and suitability for ponds and container water gardens.

 Appearance

• Large, vibrant flowers (often shades of pink, purple, or blue)
• Star-shaped petals with bright yellow centers
• Floating round leaves (lily pads), sometimes slightly mottled
• Flowers usually bloom during the day (tropical day-bloomer)

 Light Requirements

• Needs full sunlight (6–8 hours daily)
• More sun = more flowers
• Ideal for outdoor ponds or terrace tubs in sunny spots

 Water Conditions

• Water depth: 20–50 cm above the soil level
• Prefers still or slow-moving water
• Temperature: thrives in warm climates like Kerala

 Planting Method

1. Use a wide, shallow pot (no drainage holes)
2. Fill with heavy garden soil (avoid loose potting mix)
3. Plant the rhizome at a slight angle
4. Top with gravel/sand to prevent soil floating
5. Submerge slowly in water

 Fertilizing

• Use aquatic plant fertilizer tablets
• Feed every 3–4 weeks during active growth

 Maintenance

• Remove yellow or decaying leaves regularly
• Trim spent flowers to encourage new blooms
• Repot/divide rhizomes once a year if crowded

• Tropical water lilies like Thaweekan do not tolerate cold
